A 1,107.6 SQ. FT. BASEMENT RENOVATION FOR A YOUNG JAPANESE MARRIED COUPLE WITH NO CHILDREN @ MTL, CA.
Scandi Basement, a 1,108 sq. ft. unfinished underground space, exemplifies high-functioning, dynamic space planning, compelling interiors, and user-driven spaces. Designed with simple geometry and less-is-more approach, the spaces, embodies a Scandinavian-inspired residential design, guided by the client's preferences.
The interior of the basement combines a muted colour palette, stimulating textures and materials, and open and inviting spaces. The contrasting materials of the interior, like wood, glass, and others, create a dynamic fusion of textures.
The design process included multiple layout options, mood boards, and technical drawings to address challenges like pipes and columns. Carefully selected furniture and accessories, ensuring every element contributed to a cozy and functional atmosphere. The final layout was tailored to meet both aesthetic, practical and functional needs, with comprehensive plans covering electrical, finishes, and furniture placement.
Prepared 3 different layouts for the client, which allowed to visualize all the possible options. Finally, this layout was chosen by the client.
